Meet the ArtServe Team

Executive Director

Jason R. Hughes

Jason Hughes has over 25 years of experience in operations, sales, fundraising, marketing, communications, and management in both non-profit and for-profit organizations.

His background includes founding Fresh Magazine, a publication designed to expose 18-to-34-year-olds to Canadian arts and culture. In addition to founding the magazine, Hughes served as editor and publisher. At PrideVision/OUT TV, he directed the sales and marketing efforts, securing major advertisers, including Pepsi, Proctor & Gamble, Labatt, and Nissan.

Responsible for opening, staffing and leading the only Classical Radio network in South Florida, American Public Media’s Classical South Florida, Jason led the management, marketing, fundraising and programming efforts of a network of 4 stations serving over a half million listeners from Miami, Palm Beach, Naples and the Florida Keys, making it the largest classical music network in Florida.

Sophie Bonet

Sophie Bonet is a South Florida based interdisciplinary artist and curator. Her academic background includes studies in Anthropology(AS), World History, and Fine Arts (BA, MFA), and is currently pursuing a Master of Humanities for Art & Contemporary Culture.

Sophie was exposed to the arts from a young age and discovered her calling for curating while working on research and curatorial assignments for the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art (MABCA) and the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston.

In 2016 she relocated to South Florida, where she continued to develop her curatorial practice at Village Design Art Gallery in Fort Lauderdale, where she produced original curatorial material. Later that year, she founded Arts Des Femmes, an all-female touring exhibition composed by multidisciplinary local and international artists.

Her interests include current socio-cultural and sociopolitical topics, including studies behind the concept of identity, the impact of contemporary social movements, and environmental conservation.

In her current role as the lead curator at ArtServe, Sophie is committed to creating platforms for artists of all genres to develop significant works by fostering collaboration, experimentation, and artistic excellence.

Operations Manager

Rion Birchmore

Born in Las Vegas, Rion was projected into an artistic world at an early age. As a musician and singer at the age of 4, Rion found her way into the Modeling world at age 13 and has held a 27-year Freelance Model career in the areas of Runway, Print, and Live Action Modeling. Rion also has maintained involvement in the music industry for over 18 years as a Singer-Songwriter as well as band management and projection. As the Operations Manager at ArtServe, Rion comes with over 25 years of administrative management and business development through business recovery. Within this position, Rion is excitedly supporting local artists throughout Broward County with the goal of making ArtServe a household name in the artist community.

Marketing Manager

Ed King

Ed King is an award-winning neo-pop artist and graphic designer from Miami, Florida. Before taking the role of marketing manager at ArtServe, Ed worked in ad agencies honing his skills as a designer and art director of political, corporate, and healthcare communication.

King later worked for himself as Ed King Pop Art for over a decade. Named in the press as one of the top five pop artists and one of the most creative minds in South Florida, King recently decided to return to marketing after winning “best in the show” at his final pop art exhibition.

Ed King believes in the collective value of people, communities, and local businesses. He has invested his time as an art and music teacher for the Motivational Edge, for Business Network International, as a board member for Family Resource Center of South Florida, and an avid contributor to National Public Radio.

In his current role, King fiercely advocates on behalf of the artists and clients he represents while acting as a full-throated ambassador for ArtServe’s mission of inclusivity, diversity, and act as an agent for social change.

Finance Manager

Jon Goldstein

Jon Goldstein, Finance Manager, is responsible for preparing and reporting all financial transactions of ArtServe, as well as providing monthly and annual financial reports to the Board of Directors. Originally from South Jersey, Goldstein graduated from Lafayette College with a BA in Mathematics and Economics and from Rutgers University with an MBA in Professional Accounting. With over 20 years of experience in accounting and finance, Goldstein has worked in a variety of environments. These include working as part of the corporate accounting team at Sony Electronics, auditing at a mid-size accounting firm, and serving as Director of Finance for two non-profit organizations in South Florida.

Grants Coordinator

Jennifer Gettinger

Jennifer Gettinger, the Grants Coordinator, has roots in New York but considers herself a South Florida girl through and through. She has a long history in the non-profit industry and is invested in the growth of the community.

Jennifer managed field trips and summer camp programs at Young At Art Museum; before that she worked as a case manager at Covenant House Florida, where she focused on providing basic needs of the Ft Lauderdale homeless population.

Jennifer holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English from Florida International University and is a true writer at heart. Jennifer began working at ArtServe in 2018 and is excited to elevate ArtServe’s services through grant programs.

Membership Development Coordinator

Rebecca Wilkner

Rebecca Wilkner, Membership Development Coordinator, has a strong history of cultivating long-lasting relationships with members in the community. Through personal outreach to current and prospective members, she strives to identify their needs, gather feedback, connect them with existing services, programs, and resources, facilitate positive experiences and grow engagement with the organization.

Originally from St. Croix, Virgin Islands, Rebecca has made a home for her family here in South Florida, receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Barry University. For over more than a decade Rebecca has worked with nearly 1500 writers and visual artists. She has created approximately 300 events, festivals and publicity campaigns for high-profile writers and actors. From author Mary Higgins Clark to beloved TV personality Walter Mercado, her love of storytelling as a form of connecting has always been a foundation of her content research for TV documentary producers.
