Wednesday Class: TAI CHI for Arthritis and Fall Prevention: Take the first step toward improving your balance, lowering your risk of falling, and maintaining your strength and flexibility by practicing Tai Chi and Qigong exercises with a board certified Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention instructor.
What are the benefits of Tai Chi? (TIE-CHEE)
Tai Chi improves balance, confidence and muscular strength. Many studies have shown Tai Chi as being one of the most effective approaches for preventing falls. Additionally, over 30 published medical studies demonstrate that Tai Chi diminishes pain, improves balance, and decreases falls.
TAI CHI for Fall Prevention
Instructor TCAFP Tai Chi for Health Institute Certification # 6039209Warm-up Qigong exercises are practiced in the beginning of the class, followed by the Sun style form used for Tai Chi for Fall Prevention.
Thursday Class: This Yang 24 Form class is informal and casual as we help guide each other practice qigong and Tai chi movements. Qigong exercises are practiced in the first part of the class and these movements make up the components of the Yang 24 form practiced at the end of the class.
We welcome you to join us Wednesday mornings from 11:30am-12:30pm, or Thursday mornings from 9:00am- 10:15am.
All classes are $15 per class.

What is Tai chi? (TIE-CHEE)
Tai chi is a safe, low-impact, slow-motion, gentle form of exercise with no fancy equipment needed. Originally developed for self-defense, tai chi has evolved into a graceful form of exercise that’s now used for stress reduction and a variety of other health conditions.
Often described as “meditation in motion,” tai chi is a way to help relax the mind and mobilize the body’s energy while promoting serenity through gentle, flowing movements in a noncompetitive, self-paced system of gentle physical exercise and stretching.

What is qigong?
Qigong exercises consist of a series of movements that include body posture/movement and breathing designed to enhance the flow of Qi- an energy force thought to flow through the body.
Who practices qigong and Tai chi?
ANYBODY and EVERYBODY who wants to experience more balance and flexibility with a low-impact, slow-motion, gentle form of exercise.
*Tai chi is low impact and puts minimal stress on muscles and joints, making it generally safe for all ages and fitness levels. Although tai chi is generally safe, women who are pregnant or people with joint problems, back pain, fractures, severe osteoporosis or a hernia should consult their health care provider before trying tai chi. Modification or avoidance of certain postures may be recommended.
