Call To Artists
Solo Exhibition Proposal

Please read the Image Upload Guidelines before submitting to this call. Work that does not adhere to these guidelines may be disqualified.
Proposal Must Include:
- Cover letter with the artist’s contact information.
- A curatorial statement or exhibition/collection’s description of the concept, creative process, and relevance to ArtServe’s mission (approximately 500 words).
- Artist’s statement, CV, and biography.
- Artist’s portfolio with up to 10 images of potential exhibiting works or recent works (last 2 years) labeled with title, medium, date, dimensions, and FMV.
ALL artists are eligible regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, gender identity, military status, sexual orientation, marital status, or physical ability.
- Features 359 sq feet of running wall space
- Monthly Rental Fee: $500 ArtServe Members – $800 Non-members
- For groups or larger exhibitions requiring any of the benefits listed below (curatorial/Mktg/printing/installation), fees run from $500-$1,500 depending on the number of works, equipment needed, printing, and other costs
- Space can be rented for special events and engagements for an additional $50-$65 hourly rate
- The floorplan can be provided upon request
- Features 378 sq feet of running wall space
- Monthly Rental Fee: $500 ArtServe Members – $800 Non-members
- For groups or larger exhibitions requiring any of the benefits listed below (curatorial/Mktg/printing/installation), fees run from $500-$1,500 depending on the number of works, equipment needed, printing, and other costs
- Space can be rented for special events and engagements for an additional $50-$65 hourly rate
- The floorplan can be provided upon request
- Features 990 feet of running wall space
- There are no costs involved with showcasing in the Members' Gallery with limited benefits
- For groups or larger exhibitions requiring any of the benefits listed below (curatorial/Mktg/printing/installation), fees run from $500-$1,500 depending on the number of works, equipment needed, printing, and other costs
- Space can be rented for special events and engagements for an additional $50-$65 hourly rate
- Installation support fee is $25 hr
- The floorplan can be provided upon request
- Features 9′ X 30′ of running wall space
- There are no costs involved for work selected for display on the ArtServe Welcome Wall.
- The wall layout can be provided upon request
- 4 Weeks gallery rental
- All spaces prepped, clean, white painted
- Gallery lighting
- Mount system for easy installation
- Concept development
- Statements review and revision
- Curatorial advice on artwork selection, composition, and visual narrative
- Exhibition graphics for social media/ webpage and email purpose
- Exhibition’s Eventbrite page
- Inclusion in ArtServe’s email newsletters
- Social media promotion and engagement prior to and throughout the exhibition period
- Artwork will be installed by ArtServe staff in collaboration with the exhibitor
- Includes design, printing, and installation of the artwork labels and 18″ x 18″ exhibition’s lettering
- Solo Exhibition Proposal must be submitted through the ArtServe portal
- All materials must be submitted in a single PDF document
- Proposals are reviewed quarterly in the order they were received
- Rental fees cover the cost of the space, ArtServe curatorial advisory, basic marketing package, and installation support
- ArtServe Artist Members in good standing are eligible to submit proposals once a year to show new works in a four-week solo exhibition
- ArtServe gallery fee for artwork sold is 35%
- Proposals remain on file for 12 months. As spots in our exhibition calendar become available artists with viable proposals, as determined by the ArtServe Curator and Programs Manager will be contacted about scheduling
- One of the key elements we requested above is an exhibition proposal. In approximately 500 words, the typed exhibition proposal should explain to the exhibition committee 1) what is the message of the exhibition and the artworks and/or the message of the entire group exhibition 2) the reasons why your exhibition will attract visitors to ArtServe and 3) why your proposal should be selected for display at ArtServe.
- Image quality counts! Make sure image photos are clear, well lit, with appropriate orientation (verticals should not open as a horizontal file, etc.) and free of distracting backgrounds. If we are interested in your exhibition, we may contact you with a request for high-resolution digital image files in JPEG format. Make sure your images are properly saved and have not been degraded by too much compression. If you are a Mac user, please save all of your files compatible with a PC.
- DO NOT SEND ORIGINAL ARTWORK. ArtServe does not accept original works for exhibition proposals and cannot be held responsible for originals sent to us.
- Maps and measurements of the galleries are provided upon request.
- Send digital submissions to curatorial@artserve.org with a brief message in the email.

- All fine details and contracts will be discussed upon the proposal approval.
- Exhibitions are selected based solely on the artwork submitted or proposed.
- ArtServe’s Curator reserves the right to make the final decision on all artwork exhibited.
- Gallery space is assigned by the Exhibition Curator.
- Exhibition proposals must not include work previously exhibited in ArtServe exhibitions.

UPLOADS SHOULD BE ARTISTIC IN NATURE
ArtServe accepts images that promote artists and their creative work. Uploaded images must be artistic in nature. Non-artistic works, such as selfies, Snapshots of friends and family, promotional photos, unintentionally tilted photos, images depicting pornography, or hate speech will be removed and immediately disqualified. Artistic nudity or expletives will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
