Veteran's Exhibition: A Family Perspective

 A veteran’s story is one that is filled with experience, hardship, war, training, and memories; but what are the stories of those that support them? This exhibition will tell the stories of not only those who have served their countries but of those who experienced the other side of the coin through their support.


As we honor those who have given their lives through their dedication, service, and continued battle to reintegrate back into society, we must not forget to honor those who stood beside our service members. The life of the military family is a story not all are aware of and has rarely been told. Explore the challenges, heartache, love, support, and beauty of the families and their service men & women. The criteria and themes for submission are the following:

 

  • All Mediums Accepted
  • Veteran and Active Duty artists are encouraged to submit.
  • Military Family members are encouraged to submit.
  • Military service
  • Experience of Military Families
  • Hardship
  • Combat
  • Memories of service
  • Love and support for Military Veterans

Please read the Image Upload Guidelines before submitting. Artwork that does not adhere to these guidelines may be disqualified.

  • This is a paid Open Call. No refunds will be issued. We advise that you read all the rules carefully before applying.
  • Entries are limited to 5 images and must be accompanied by an artist’s statement (250 words), bio (200 words), and a detailed inventory list of the works. This material must be submitted in an editable format such as Microsoft Word.
  • IF YOUR DOCUMENTS ARE NOT ABLE TO BE EDITED YOUR SUBMISSION WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. NO PDFs, WORD DOCUMENTS ONLY.
  • Providing a Headshot for a bio card is encouraged, but not required.
  • Artwork must be original and created during the past 5 years.
  • 2d Artwork must be ready to install, wired, and suitable for hanging.
  • 2d Artwork must not exceed 25 pounds.
  • 2d works should not exceed 60” wide. If you wish to submit a larger format, please contact ArtServe Curator for approval at curatorial@artserve.org.
  • Submissions must include title, dimensions, medium, description, and fair market value (including 35% gallery fee) for each piece that is being submitted.
  • ALL artists are eligible regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, gender identity, military status, sexual orientation, marital status, or physical ability.
  • All artwork is subject to review & selection discretion by our curatorial team. Submission does not guarantee inclusion in the show. Artwork selection is based on relevance to the theme and stated criteria.

Exhibition Dates: July 14th- September 11th 2023

 

Opening Reception: Friday, July 21st, 7-9pm

 

Submission Deadline: Sunday, July 2nd, 2023

 

Intake Dates: Wednesday, July 5th - Tuesday, July 11th 2023

 

Outtake Dates: Monday, September 11th -Thursday, September 14th 2023
