About the PRISM Collection

Every Wednesday night the LIVING ROOM Lounge in the W Fort Lauderdale offers up more than just creative cocktails, sushi and saki. It’s the night to feel the beat of the street with some of South Florida’s top urban artists painting live and large. Guests watch amazing works of art come to life, interact with the artists, and the completed canvases become part of the permanent collection of the W Fort Lauderdale and hung throughout the hotel. Logistics for the weekly live painters are coordinated by the award-winning non-profit, ArtServe.

This November, a collection of these original works of art will be on display at ArtServe. The PRISM exhibition will feature some of the most outstanding, outrageous and exceptional works produced live in the LIVING ROOM setting by both the top names in the urban art scene and rising stars. The best part is that these works will also be available for purchase at a special rate, with proceeds going to continue the live-painting program and support all of ArtServe’s initiatives that enrich the community through art.

From popular Wynwood artists to undiscovered talents, PRISM will present an eclectic collection of works. Every 48”x60” piece on display was conceived and created in front of W Fort Lauderdale guests in their beach-front LIVING ROOM bar. The themes of the works are as varied as the artists themselves. From whimsical to powerful, topical to inspired by the LIVING ROOM’s panoramic ocean view, the PRISM collection showcases the tremendous level talent found in South Florida.

“The partnership with the W is amazing because they recognize the value of creating authentic experiences for guests by involving locals in the mix,” notes Jaye Abbate, CEO of ArtServe. "The Wednesday night program also goes to the core of ArtServe’s mission to foster artistic growth in the community by offering a different artist the incredible opportunity to have their art become part of a permanent collection, every single week."

“At the W, we understand we are part of a local community. But we also work hard to create a community for our guests in a variety of ways. The live-painting nights are one of those ways that makes our brand so special,” says Alexis Espejo, Director of Marketing for the W Fort Lauderdale. “Watching these artists create is mesmerizing. You are compelled to stay so you can see the finished piece.”

“I love the non-traditional setting of the LIVING ROOM,” Abbate adds. “It gets art out of the gallery and museum setting to where real people are. It exposes artists to audiences that may not have a chance to see their street murals or visit their studio. The W provides an intimacy so guests can chat with artists, learn their process and see a piece evolve from a giant blank canvas to an amazing work of art.”
