INSPIRING WOMEN

THE NATIONAL LEAGUE OF AMERICAN PEN WOMEN

Location

Holy Cross Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women’s Center

1000 NE 56th St, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33334

Holy Cross Health in partnership with ArtServe, an award-winning non-profit arts incubator, presents Inspiring Women, an exhibition dedicated to the inspiration and empowerment of women in the arts.

The “Inspiring Women” Exhibition showcases the fine art works of members of the National League of American Pen Women (Pen Women), Fort Lauderdale Branch, a community of professional award-winning, internationally recognized and collected women visual artists. Pen Women believe in the power of art to illuminate the human experience, fire the imagination and nurture the soul. Through a variety of media, including acrylic, watercolor, oil, sculptor and photography, artists’ heartfelt works reflect subjects and causes that inspire them with the intent to inspire others, in particular women. The oldest women’s art organization in America, NLAPW was originally founded in 1897 by Marian Longfellow Donoghue (niece of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow), to empower professional women journalists who were discriminated against and excluded by major publications.
